On Friday, August 16 @ 7:00 P.M. Capri College will be having their 2nd annual Capri College Rocks the Arts fashion show, a community wide charity event held at the beautiful Paramount Theater downtown Cedar Rapids. Those of you who didn’t have an opportunity to attend Capri’s extremely successful premiere event last August in Green Square Park, might wondering what exactly Capri Rocks the Arts is – It’s an all ages fashion/hair runway show organized by our faculty & student body that showcases their innovative hair and makeup skills. This unique & entertaining charity event is conducted in a setting similar to that of New York Fashion Week. More than 150 amateur and professional models from the Cedar Rapids area, raging from 16 years of age and older will be walking the runway at The Paramount.
Showcasing high fashion via the student body, and the skills which they acquire during their stay at Capri is nothing new to school founder and industry mogul Chuck Feigen. The Feigen family has been providing extensive & exciting hands on education to the state of Iowa’s aspiring cosmetologists for over 50 years. And they aren’t slowing down with this annual charity event! Look for more innovative & exciting Capri events in the future.
Capri has incorporated an interesting twist to the typical fashion show, which is why this charity event will become an annual “must see” for all ages. Along with the runway, fashions for the evening will be paired with live music by local rock band Torchlight Parade who performed at last year’s event. New this year will be the talented DJ T17 who hails all the way from Indianapolis, IN. This entertaining duo will be providing music that is sure to please everyone.
All proceeds from Capri Rocks the Arts 2013 will go directly towards raising awareness and funds for Critter Crusaders, a non-profit organization based in Iowa that helps support the welfare and adoption of animals in the Cedar Rapids area. Along with Critter Crusaders, Capri will also be making generous donations to the local animal shelters as well as the Linn County Food Bank. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable canned goods as well as dog food to The Paramount upon entry to the event.
