You could learn to be a hair stylist, pursue a passion for skincare, master the science of massage therapy, or learn different ways to do nails. If you are already a licensed cosmetologist, you could continue your education and learn to be a cosmetology instructor. Capri College in Waterloo began in 2014 and is part of a four-campus beauty school in Iowa. We are family-owned and dedicated to supporting each of our students throughout their educational process. Beauty students can enjoy hands-on training in our student salon and spa areas, where they provide services to real clients under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. Our family-like environment encourages personal growth in whichever area of the beauty world you choose to study!
Hands-on Training in Professional Settings Fosters Greater Confidence
A 1,550-hour comprehensive program where you could learn hair cutting and styling, skincare techniques, makeup application, nail design, and more.
A 600-hour program that teaches basic and advanced skincare services, including facials, hair removal, and wraps.
A 325-hour program focusing on nail care, nail design, artificial nails, and more.
A 600-hour program that provides the training needed to perform a variety of massage techniques to help others relax, relieve pain, and heal faster.
A 1,000-hour program for licensed cosmetologists who want to become a positive influence on the next generation of beauty professionals by learning how to be a beauty school instructor.
When you walk into Capri College in Waterloo, you are welcomed into a spacious reception area that opens into a 4,000-square-foot student salon and spa. This professional salon and spa environment features hair styling stations, manicure and pedicure areas, four treatment rooms, a retail boutique with professional hair, skin, and nail products, and branded college merchandise.
A spa clinic and classroom area are adjacent to the cosmetology clinic, and this is where students practice massage therapy and esthetics. This area includes nine private treatment rooms and two additional classrooms. The campus also features two more spacious classrooms, a student breakroom, and a locker area. Ample, well-lit parking is available on-site to meet the needs of both students and guests.
The Waterloo campus is a one-story independent strip mall complex that also includes a fitness center, barber shop, and Red Tails Wrestling.
There are multiple hotels and local attractions in the Waterloo area, including Lost Island Waterpark, Lost Island Themepark, and the Isle Casino Hotel. There is a thriving arts and museum district, a revitalized downtown, sports venues, restaurants, and much more to keep you entertained when you aren’t in school! Cedar River flows through the center of Waterloo, Iowa.
Capri in Waterloo is absolutely amazing.I went to school there and they did amazing job I learned so much. I graduated and I still get my hair done there because there prices and the teachers and students do such amazing job every time.
I was a student at Capri and graduated last year. My instructors were all so supportive and kind and always there for us not just with school stuff but personal too. (The amount of times I cried in Surps office cuz I was having a bad day and she never ever made me feel bad for it and would let me sit there and talk to her until I felt better) Capri is not just about beauty, it’s about building lasting friendships and learning about yourself! The beauty industry is literally billions of dollars and we can ALL be successful and Capri helped show us that!!!
I graduated from Capri almost 2 years from the cosmetology program and Capri definitely set me up for success with all the knowledge my instructors had and passed down to me! If you are interested in going to cosmetology school I highly recommend Capri College in Waterloo
I attended Capri last year and graduated through the cosmetology program and my college experience was great! All the instructors there are very kind and helpful while still letting you have full range of your creativity! S.O to my instructor Surp for pushing me to finish my hours!
I made lifelong friends and made so many great memories along the way. Some of my favorite classes were the special FX makeup, the straight razor course and the facial massage class. I also loved being a Capri Camp counselor and getting to teach the kids about makeup. The scheduling of clients on the floor was a great way for me to become more sociable and comfortable with multitasking my work and getting to know the client.
Choosing Capri College was one of the best decisions I've ever made. From day one, I felt supported and encouraged to grow-not just as a stylist, but as a person. The instructors pushed me to believe in myself, refine my skills, and step outside of my comfort zone. I graduated feeling confident, prepared, and excited to start my career. Capri will always hold a special place in my heart.
Capri College has given me confidence in my ability that I will own forever. My favorite part of the program was the hands-on learning. The fast-paced nature of the program was challenging, but it has prepared me for my career as a Massage Therapist.
Yes, we are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), and the Waterloo campus received “School of Excellence” status in 2023.
Yes, students have the opportunity for free or discounted services at scheduled times throughout their training. Students also receive up to a 50% discount on most home care products.
Although we can’t guarantee job placement, the college maintains strong ties with local salons and spas, which can aid graduate employment. We have a good reputation in the community. Besides that, we teach business skills in our programs, so students can be prepared to enter the workforce once they have graduated.
The first way to make beauty school more affordable is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Financial aid is available to those who qualify. You could also apply for various scholarships that pertain to beauty school students. Call us at 1-800-728-7222 to discuss your options with a Financial Aid advisor.
Our enrollment process involves filling out an application form, paying a $100 fee, touring the school, and completing a pre-admissions interview. You must also be able to show that you graduated from high school or have your GED. Contact us for further enrollment information or to schedule your personal school tour and interview.
