At Capri College, we are committed to helping you every step of the way, and if you need financial assistance, we are here to help you find the resources that could help make your beauty school education more affordable. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Up to two academic years of Federal Financial Aid is available to those who qualify in the form of grants (no repayment required) and loans for Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Massage Therapy students. Financial Aid is not available for our Nail Technology program.

Filling Out the FAFSA®

Your first step is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). As the name suggests, this is a free government form. You can submit it at no cost to you. When you fill out the FAFSA®, you will need to have the following information available:

Social security number
Driver’s license number (if you have one)
Federal income tax returns
Records of untaxed income, like child support or veterans’ benefits
Financial aid code for the school you plan to attend

Find Out What You Qualify For

Once your FAFSA® has been processed, we will be notified of the types of federal aid that you qualify for.
Some of the grants and loans that you could qualify for include:

Federal Pell Grant: The Pell Grant is based on financial need and does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.
Federal Subsidized Loan: The Federal Subsidized Loan is based on financial need. Interest does not begin accruing until you cease full-time enrollment at school. You begin paying this loan back six months after you cease enrollment.
Federal Unsubsidized Loan: The Federal Unsubsidized Loan could help if you need to borrow money for additional education costs. You must meet all eligibility criteria of the Federal Subsidized Direct loan program, except you do not have to demonstrate financial need or undergraduate status. In this type of loan, interest payments begin immediately after the loan is fully disbursed or may be added to the principal balance. Regular payments begin six months after you cease enrollment.
Federal Parent PLUS Loan: The Federal Parent Plus Loan helps the parents of undergraduate students pay for their child’s educational expenses. The parent needs to be credit-worthy, but even if your parent has no credit or a poor credit history, you could still qualify by applying with a credit-worthy endorser. You begin repaying the loan immediately after it is fully disbursed.

Capri’s Erin Fiegen Memorial Discount Program

Capri College offers a $2,000 Erin Fiegen Memorial Discount Program to financially assist students with good high school records and/or exceptional need. Up to three students per Capri location who enroll in our Cosmetology classes starting between January 1 and June 30 will be awarded this Erin Fiegen Memorial Discount Program.

To apply for this Erin Fiegen Memorial Discount Program, you must:

Submit a copy of your high school or college transcripts.
Submit a typed essay describing why you have chosen this industry and how you will use your talents, skills, and values to be a leader during your training at Capri College and in your future career.
Describe any specific need or hardship you have.
Submit a list and explanation of past and current participation in activities in your school, community, and/or church.
Submit two professional reference letters.

The deadline for completing the application is one month before the start date of your classes.

Because scholarships offer money that does not have to be repaid, they are an excellent resource for many of our students. We believe it is well worth your time to apply for scholarships, even if you think you won’t win any. Scholarships available to students in the beauty industry include:

Who is eligible to apply for financial aid?

Most U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens with a high school diploma or GED can apply for federal financial aid. Eligibility is based on factors such as financial need, enrollment status, and whether or not you meet the general eligibility requirements outlined by the U.S. Department of Education.

What can financial aid cover?

Financial aid can cover the costs of tuition, school fees, school supplies, and books. Depending on what you qualify for, it could cover the full cost of your beauty school education or a portion of the cost, as well as some living expenses. Different factors, such as financial need and the number of hours you spend in school, help determine the amount of financial aid you receive.
